Sizes of ant farms and nests (M, L, XL)

For ant farms, the size designation refers primarily to the internal spacing between the plates. Connection dimensions are listed separately in the individual product specifications. These dimensions help customers select a formicarium according to the requirements of the selected species:

M (10 mm): suitable for selected small to medium-sized species, including many Lasius and Formica species.
L (20 mm): designed for many larger ant species, including selected Camponotus species; with cork or gypsum inserts also suitable for smaller species
XL = 50 mm: for selected large or fast-growing species. Leafcutter ants and weaver ants require specialised housing, and dedicated setups are available for each group. Please check the relevant species guide and product category before choosing a setup
