...and is there any possibility to change basins? I mean if oncethe colony is set up in a display and it breaks or something, there is no chance to put the colony into another display or basin? For Xample trying to find the queen and save as many workers as possible and putting them into another basin... Does anybody have experience like this? I'm really curious about it, what to do in case of emergency :) kind of action movie I suppose :D

@ciluvagyok: lucky for me it never happened, but a friend of mine had a bit off a problem with his Messor barbarus they dig trout the y-tong and made a hole the escape. ;) So he did put the hole farm (y-tong and out world) in a big tub, used some talk at the edge of the tube and than let them move into a new farm. With tubes, nice warm new farm and a cold old farm, they moved in a few days.

So it is always handy to keep a big tub near by. ;)

I meant if something bad happens to the ant farm (eg. the glass breaks) how can you collect the ants or putting the whole colony into a new farm :) but it seems like all you guys have strong&correct basins 'cause nobody had such a disaster so far :P
Actually my mom worries a bit about this :)
Anyway, once I had a few cricketts (Gryllus assimilis), 3 female and 2 male in a big jar topped with a piece of strong cloth but somehow they escaped and I could not manage to catch them because they hid under the furniture. They started to chirp around the house and my mom was terrified to have loads of cricketts in the house if they start breeding:D I was pretty nervous but at the end they could not breed and died :( I tried to put some fruit in the corners of the house but they did not find it... ever since I'm a bit worried about this escaping topic :)

lol, i can believe you mom. I like my ants very much, if they are in there farm, not in my house. ;) If you have a strong farm it could take a few moves. ;)
