I was planning to make a similar antfarm to this, and I did make it. But I had trouble becase I used plexiglass instead of glass so it bent due to heat. So I put it away. But I noticed that after a few months, it went really moldy around the areas where I moistened it; so I'm not really sure how to make an antfarm out of wood and make sure it doesnt mold; unless you use squeezed cork.

Strangely enough I made a similar mistake with my two latest antfarms; because I didn't know of the great properties of cork so I used MDF, which I soon realised was a dumb idea. But I've ordered some squeezed cork platsed off Antstore; just waiting for them to get them in.

It not always easy to make a "perfect" farm. That is why it is best to use the farm a few days/weeks without putting ants in it. That way you can see if it works out.
Good luck with your cork.

Ya, that's what I did with the first wood farm! Applied abit of heat and moisture and watched it all fall apart. ;P

Luckily no ants.

And thank you, hope the cork will work as well as it should!
