Some one can clear me the question about how depth must be carved the nest for smallest species like lasius and tetramorium?....the guide says 10-15mm but in some tread speak about only 5mm....in your experience what is best?

thanks

i personaly make mine around 15mm, better they have too much room than not enough room. and they will always just keep growing anyways.. so its always best to make it as big as possible.

With regards to the moisture i thought that the basin with water under was too ugly so i came up with another method. I've drilled holes into the walls of the brick all around the chambers and also through the perspex so i can vary the water content in different areas of the nest. Dropping in water every day depending on which area i want moist or dry. I'll upload pics later. It looks pretty good too. they also serve to ventilate the nest.

@ Uncletommy: Yes you can also drill holes in it. But than (like you said) you need to put water in it every day. When you have the y-tong with a leg in the water you only need to fill the water container 2 times a week. Must easier when you have a lot of ants. ;)

i posted on the WRYS guy's thread

Can you explain that a bit ? WRYS ?

this is spam or what??

anyway to stay in topic personally I dont like the two method for moisturing the Y-tong in the azzer guide..., the last humidification system(and I think best method) and that works pretty good is made by acquarium sand fuse....
