Of course, for example Camponotus ants.
They are big and easy to keep but they grow at the beginning very slowly.
Maybe not the best thing if you are new to ants and want to see much action.

nah, Lasuis niger is diffinately that best ones to get for a beginner. theyre nice and easy to keep.wen i got my firsts ones from antstore, it was in february, they were fine.
alternatively, you could wait until the summer to collect a queen-its much cheaper, obviously, but you then have to wait a while to get a colony. L niger queens are quite easy to find!
