Lasius niger is great starter ant species. It adapts to almost everything. They like honey but mix it with water (they like it more, when it is in liquid), they like, flies, grasshoppers, flour-worms and other insects, but before you give them insects put the insects in very hot water, so that any bacteria die. 23-25 Celsius is their temperature.

Lasius niger are slow movers they could even spend a year in their test tube, before they will move in the ytong. They don't like it too dry or too wet so in the middle and a little bit more they will like it. Don't put your basin and nest in direct sunlight or the ants will die.
