About microwaving stuff to get rid of mites, bacteria etc.: I'm not sure it'll work. Even Solenopsis sized ants are too small to be affected by the waves - so mites will certainly not be hit.
I would use an oven just to be sure..

I have a question for those of u who use ytong, how absorbent us it supposed to be ?

My ytong has a trough in the top that i pour water into but it doesn't seem to absorb the water very fast, takes 24 hours for it to soak through and i can't actually see the moisture/dampness anywhere in the ytong, it looks dry.

mmm usualy its like a sponge... its pretty quick like.. as its full of them tiny holes... I guess it depends where ur trough is.. and how deep it is.. and how close to the chambers... Saying that i tried using the well idea... and it sucked.. i much prefer to use the leg idea and have part of the ytong imersed in water all the time.

Normally they sell the good stuf. Not sure if this one is ytong (can't tell from the picture). I would also prefer the leg setup. Is there a change you can do that with this setup you have ?
