Ya i think ur right im just to hyped from them lol since they didnt have a great start when they came from antstore. My colony is 12 girls strong (includes queen)

Hehe .. , My colony has only 5 workers .. but I am expecting them to grow fast as the queen is a good egg layer. I have 2 larvae and 10-15 eggs.

my colony is 5 or 6 strong plus the queen,no sign of them feeding yet :(

That is normal, if the colony is that small they most of the time come out at night to feed, because the feel much saver at night.

Well mine dont seem to mind .. they just try and attack me as soon as I open up the tube and they only have 5 workers. :D

Wow they have a large batch of eggs now .... it keeps getting bigger I would say around 15 now :shock:

i have not seen them since last year cause they are in a basin they are under the ground in the dark.they are being warmed up slow ,if i dont see any activity in the next 2 week i may dig down and see if they are alive,i know where they are ,about 2.5 cm down in a corner under a piece of wood,a bad idea ??/???

If you dig down to them the disturbance could stress them and this maybe be bad for them if they are asleep or just waking up. Some times ants take quite a while to wake up, even when there is a good heat source. If they are dead, then you have nothing to lose by being patient anyway to see if they do emerge. I also suggest that you place some sort of food, like sugar water, in the baisin as they could be foraging whilst your back is turned :wink: .

i had a simular situation with my nylanderi Duc.. Howeva i did just leave them and put a bit of honey down just outside the nest.. sure enough within a few hours a worker was out drinking the honey.. im sure they are there an just fine.. prob only come out at night or when ur not looking :)

well,they are alive,i put some honey and a small piece of bacon in for them,when i checked the bacon had gone :D but i also spotted that a worker had got stuck in the honey and died :(

woke up this morning, after my tiresome day in London !
found the queen had laid one egg woop

checked at 9pm she has another 4 eggs now woop "! :D

Yes that could happen that is why i use such small dishes for the honey, that way the chance of them getting stuck is much lower.
