Nice pictures but I am getting the apartment thing with the panoramic display. Which i am not sure 1kg will be enough to fill it up. I will look around for sand and loam when it arrives i guess.
So it wont be installed until middle of next week.
She should be ok in her current home anyway until then ^^

Well parce is here that 1kg is far from enough so of I go to find loam and sand! Now i know what the spare 3kgs were for in the parcel delivery prices

Aren't you afraid that they escape if you open your formicarium for feeding.... ?

I have a tube of the PTFE thing but so far I've watched the queen and she can barely get half way up the glass. Of course the workers might be able so if they get high i will just put the gel on it.
I know it needs to dry first
Atm my only concern is if the queen is ok i mean in the old little box i could at least see her from underneath now if she dies in her hole i will never know ... :S

Ok I am in trouble, everything seemed ok but in the evenign she came out of her nest wohoo for that but now she barely moves :S I put her on top of a piece of apple, some fructose and a dead fly. There is some water in the fructose but I can't imagine whats wrong

ok she is pretty much not moving at this stage just the ocasional move evcery so often, i added more fructose a bit of water some wheat and yeast ...

Ok she is dead reason for death unknown unless something happens tonight while i am in bed... though i doubt she will start moving all of a sudden. Everything seemed perfect. I moved her body on top of the gel water, you never know ...
Anyone got ideas?

I'm sorry to hear that Varban. I don't now the reason. I think you did everything you can to give here a good home...

Well I ordered a new one, at least she will have a starting nest to settle from her predecessor. :S
The only thing I could think of is food which i never saw her eat. I had provided different types but no seeds could that be a reason? Still she should have eaten some fructose or apple.
Maybe she didn't like the gel water :S
The temperature was around 20-23 during the day and under 20 during the night which is like in the south europe where the nights are colder even if the days are much higher than 23 .

Can't think of anything, she was digging vigourously the night before seemed pretty ok before i left for college the next morning and later in the day she was dying. :S

Is there some peculiarity of the specie that i have missed? The pictures show pretty much what her home looks like maybe i did something wrong. Would be nice to know before the new queen arrives for which i will have to get a small camera in the nest to keep watching so i know things are going ok
