ANTSTORE World of Ants

Good evening to all!

i'm new to the whole ant world i would LOVE to start up a strong colonie of myrmica rubra (few queens) and i'me wondering if it would be possible to carve a good ant nest from Ytong into a model building like a piramid, tempel or even an roman colloseum! if its made of 2 diffrent parts (the lower one containing lots of chaimbers and tunnels) and the upper one the model with entrance and exit, in the middle maybe a hollow space with cotton for moist connected to a tube and paint the outside with a thic layer of clay (so the moist stays in longer)
???
also most ytong nest i see here have curved tunnels and round chaimbers is that nessesairy? or could i make em square?
i could add a drawing if u dont understand me...

and last but not least i could find anywhere how much moist is enough ? ime afraid to go either to much or to little for the ytong nest?..

advise or suggestions are always welcome

Hello Olly and welcome to the forum.

Off course you can make it in a shape of a piramid. You can make all kind of shapes, just google a bit and you will find a lot of different farms.
You need to make the nest moist not to wet but you will find that out with trying.

dus zolang ik de ytong vochtig kan houden met een buisje kan ik die bewerken tot elke vorm
ik denk dat ik wel een paar mooie dingen kan bouwen!
en stel dat ik een colloseum-nest kan bouwen met in het midden een doorgang naar de nest en ik zou bovenop het netst (dus in het colloseum) een insect plaatsen zouden ze het als bedreiging zien en aanvallen?

Yep, zolang je het vochtig kunt houden kan je er alle kanten mee uit. Staan wel een paar heel leuke foto's op internet (moet maar is zoeken op google) van mensen die er echt mooie dings mee gemaakt hebben.
Als het insect niet te groot is zullen ze het zeker aanvallen als voedsel.
