hello

I want to keep my Pheidole pallidula in a terrarium because they can dig trough YTONG.and I wanted to have at least one specie in a natural kind of nest.

1/which container is the best? a big PVC basin or the ant-PVC-terrarium?

2/how much loam/sand/potter's clay would I need?

3/how often should I humidify it?

Hello Scàth-Siorrai,

1. There is no best. You can use many sorts of basin.
2. Minimum is 1-2 cm If you want have plants in the basin, than you must have more loam and sand.

3. If you have a glas basin, you will see the humidify on the side with darkness. But this species don't like a to humidify basin.

I would like to put a lot of sand/loam so that the ants have a lot of space.

Some people like to use Coral sand for the formicarium.
Coral sand is easy to use, and solidly.

sand and loam is packed in 250g

For example: 4x sand = 1 kg = 1 liter = 1 decimeter³
please look the size of the basin, than you know how much ground you need.

potters clay is to take to the humidity. Only with very small basin (antfarm's) inevitably. But it cannot damage.

No, I think you need perhaps ground 2 cm high = 4x Sand or 2x Loam.
If you need more, you can look in you loacal property market for sand and loam.
I think is cheaper for you, because of the forwarding expenses.
