Lasius niger L. alienus L. flavius have a high productivity because the massive exploitation of Aphid's (plant bugs) that give them the largest part of there food intake. If they are not eaten by predators or destroyed by other ants, queens and new born Lasius colony's have a high rate of success .They are the main pioneer ants everywhere except in forest where Myrmica ruginodis is usually there first . Also winged Myrmicine ants takeoff much quicker and so are much less often seen.To get Myrmica rubra queens you need a bit of luck or to look in august-(and September) at different places where there are many M.rubra colony's. Now Myrmica queens need to continue to eat during the foundation and do have a lower rate of success than the Lasius so it is better to try more than one time.
