Hello mates my name is Martin from the german forum,

i want to ask u a question i already asked on the german forum. I want to know if anybody of you did some feeding experiments with your ants. Like the workers in a zoo do with the Apes.

I want to experiment by myself but i cant i will get my first ant colony on spring next year (maybe Camponotus Ligniperda or Raptiformica Sanguinea).

Some Experiments like a cotton ball soaked full of honey water or something hanging down from the top with a small space between it and the ground of the formicarium. I would like to see if they build ladder. Thats the type of experiments i am talking about.

Had somebody already done that?
And what do you think about that idea?

Hello and welcome on the English part.

If i'm not mistaken you don't have ants yet. And the species you are referring to are not quick growing species. If you like to do experiments with food and ants it would be easier if you have larger colonies.

That said i think there are some nice thing you can try. Some species (like weaver ants) would make a ladder for sure.

I never did experiments myself but if you are doing some make sure to let us know all about it.

If i wont lose my heat on ants till i get mine on spring i will report everything they do , even an ant fart
