hi have new set up with about ten Pheidole pallidula workers and queen she still in test tube seem to be eating and good few eggs just wondering if these need any heat temp of set varies between 21 to 25 looking on antstore say 25 to 30 degrees

and any info one keeping this species be much appreciated as not much but am following the usual tips fingers crossed will relocate to farm soon

Alot has been written aobut this species on this forum already. Try to use the search function.

Anyway, being south European specie it does need a bit higher temperatures and less moist. Also the hybernating period can be shorter and at higher temperatures (about 15°C).

Good luck, this are nice ants.

i dont keep mine heated at all and they are doing fantastic, i guess it depends on ur room temp.. mine never really drops below 24.. and they seem to thrive. Good luck with them and Welcome to the forum :D :drink06:

Hello vaccine and welcome to the forum.

It is best to keep them at +-25°c. If your room temp. is that high you don't need extra heating but if it is lower the brood will develop much slower.
Make sure you have a good way to prevent them from escaping, they are really good at this. ;) If you thread them wright they will grow very fast.
I have a diary about these ants and a few pictures of them in the dutch section of the forum.

mpir, this in not true for this species. They like it moist. When the nest is to dry it could kill the hole colony in one day.
