Well my brother is in the military and has been traveling alot in central america. He walked by a flight of what looks like Hyperlinks sind nur für registrierte Nutzer sichtbar
queens. Caught one for me. Not sure how to care for them. And wondering if anyone has any info on them. Been keeping the queen in tube of course with alot of heat. She has a few eggs and a small larva. (and yes i know it wasnt smart of him to travel with it) Really not sure if this is what he got, but its the closest to its color and such. black with gold rear. really sharp mandibles, also very aggresive. I know i dont post much, but i have 15 colonies right now that i have caught around my state and i have a good idea on what iam doing. So i dont want a queen dieing cause of my ignorance. Thank you for any help

She's got eggs and small larva - seems to me that you are already taking good care of her and that you don't need much help.

I keep a colony of Camponotus blandus but there are about 7 subspecies. (i think, could be more) They are not that hard to keep, just keep the temperature good (about 25-30°c) and the humidity 50-70%. Give them sweets and insects like you give all your ants and i think they will do just fine. ;)

Okay maybe it was illegal what he did but as long as you don't release her into nature i don't see any problems. ;)

small update. The first worker has hatched. very small and black with gold on the end of course. I was alittle worried for a week because the pupea(or however u spell it) was very white. And i know that they are normaly pretty white at first and slowly change to a brown color after awhile. But this one stayed really really crisp white the whole time and was slowly caving in on its self. like they do when they die and mold. buttttttttt it hatched so all that blab doesnt matter lol. Anyway i would love to get some pics up, unfortunely my camera is horrid and i cant make any thing out with it. Will try to get a better one. :?
