hello, frede. i ordered formica sanguinea and the queen came with 30 formica fusca workers and no sanguinea workers so chances are u will be supplied with slaves for them. If you were to have a seperate basin for a slave species there would be no guarantee the sanguinea would raid the other colony very often. i suppose it would depend on how many sanguinea you were supplied cause i cant see fusca's raiding a colony! plus in nature they say they only raid once or twice a year but hopefully ill find that out for myself soon.
I'm still not sure if my sanguinea queen is fertile cause i couldnt see any eggs. im sure she will be. Did ur slaves just sit around the queen alot Calco? i can hardly get a look at her. lol. When the pupae hatch ill have to see if its fuscas or (fingers crossed) sanguinea. cant wait to see them in action!
they did for a little while, then once they seemed to have settled in they dug a mass of tunnels. Now the queen happily stays in her chamber and the workers constantly care for the eggs. Would write more but there is a massive storm going over
EDIT: Just sat and watched them for a while, the queen seems to be a bit restless, wandering about in and out of the nest
