Formica sanguinea

Formica sanguinea

Beitragvon Catualda » 4. Aug 2008 13:41

Greetings,
As the title says im looking for people to share their experiences with this species, Formica sanguinea (and if possible some photos of their setup).

The basic idea is that im looking forward to set up a "big" formicarium for this species and have already set up the possibility to add some serviformica species later.

Thank you in advance.

I keep them for about a year now, they are doing well. The colony has about 30 workers now from which 15 are slaves. (Formica fusca)
I keep them in a y-tong nest with a small out world (for now).
Here you can find some pictures of my colony.

That is not a problem. If the slaves take good care of your queen and brood you will have nice workers soon.

they will if you keep them in the same tube you need to keep there nests apart from each other 2 basins or ytong connected by a tube or in a large basin with 1 colony at one end and the other at the other end
