ANTSTORE World of Ants

hey guys...

I was visiting my grandparents grave today. When i removed the flower pot thingy from the grave stone i found a fairly large lasius niger nest, With plenty of males and queens all waiting to fly.. So im guessin sometime VERY soon we will start seein flights.

Another thing i noticed... There was lots of little mounds around the graveyard that looked a lot like ant hills that Lasius flavus make, however when i was watching one to see if any ants came out.. I was very suprised to see what looked like a wasp!!!! Is this usual for wasps to nest in the ground??

Quite a few solitary wasps nest in the ground yep
