In another thread I have been researching how to import ants into the United States.

If it turns out the process is more trouble than it's worth, what I would ideally like to do is purchase one of the fabulous antfarms they have here, then acquire the ants themselves from a distributor over here in the US.

The only problem, however, is every ant distributor I have found over here only sells workers. They will not sell you a queen.

Quite obnoxious.

Does anyone know of a distributor in the US who sells Ant Queens along with the workers?

Hello Cocles,

I know that in the US there were sold only workers, but I don´t know why. A "colony" without a queen will never show the normal full behaviour and seems to lose theor biological sence to live (there is no brodd to care, no nest which must get greater, because there is no development).

If there is no way to get an permission you only can catch the ants by yourself. Maybe on this link you can find more answers

The government doesn't want ant species to expand their natural range. Basically they don't want you to mess up the local ecosystem.
