can i use lehm instead of humusherde or any thing thats
so i can see them better
and if i have a tube in the hole in a standard farm will they be able to breath ok
and how many ants do you get with the queen
roughly and have you got the ants that i want

Hello DAN S!

Surely you can mixe loam and humus soil, but the substrat is dark coloured and so you will not see the ants better. I recommend you sand and loam, its more brighter and you can see the red ants better.

They can breath - the ants are very small and don´t need so much air. Sometimes you must open the farm to give them some food and so there comes new fresh air in.

How many ants we send is not easy to say, because its depedend of the time we had them. The colony from Myrmica rubra will be a little bit greater than the colony from Lasius niger, I think 1 queen and neary 20 workers. Just write in the comment of order, that you want a greater colony - maybe its possible!
