If im not mistaken its not foam but its a gypsum nest or so but another person could help u better at that since i only have ytong and cork nests ...

Gypsum nest are made of gypsum.

I heard of people using foam but i'm still not convinced that it is a good nest for ants. I think it is better to use a y-tong or a sand nest. (or gypsum)

Im not sure maybe you should try ytong but some people that live in america say no one does ytong so you should find out the bricks name in america here we call it breeze block so it might be different in america ytongs are better than gypsum

you should easily be able to obtain breeze blocks or aereated concrete block in a DIY store for builders, i mean in england it be B&Q or Wikkens or so cant remember name properly right now hehe...

Thank you. i will look into that, but now i need to find me some queens. is it better to dig them up or wait till after their nuptial flight?

I definetly advise u to wait until the nuptial flights
digging them up just kills them and u mostly never get anything out of it
U could try look around big logs and stones as some ants will nest under these.

If ur lucky u might find someone selling ants in america

I would sugest for Myrmeca rura to put some sugar water in al lid by one of there nests. then wait until the workers and queens come up to feast. Because rubras useraly have more than one queen they useraly bring 1 or 2 up to eat.

Myrmica rubra can have more queens in one colony that is true, but they never come to eat for themselves.

What i ment was that the queens come up when there are lots of workers. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

to: ashhad1 , i was fortunate to caputer a queen western harvester when i dug her up, but not so fortunate when i tried a different nest. ill try to find a nest under rock. the bad news that in america their is federal laws prohibiting the sending of queens across border and the workers they send are western harvester, so i might as well just go outside to get them, a waste of money.

to:spore, is Myrmeca rura a native inhabiter of kansas? if not read the above. that is the only bad thing about this law, but i agree with it.
