Do you think that is safe to connect 2 antfarms, one with Messor structor and other with M. barbarus to the same Acryl Ant Island 30x20, to be used as a common foraging area?

we have not test it with this two species, but i think the two colonies will make a fight.

indeed, I dont think its a good idea, the only way I think it could work would be if there was a surplus of food and they where not competing with one another, remeber that in the wild the food supply is often much greater than we provide to captive colonies, so what a surplus would be I dont really know

personally I wouldnt risk it

theres also the risk that one of the colonies may deciede to attack the other outright

It would be an interesting experiment if you had lots of space for the ants to forage. If you don't, don't risk it. The ants might invade the nests.

Its not really an experiment if the outcome is already known, i think 'morbid curiosity' is a better description
