Which species is this?

Which species is this?

Beitragvon Antlord » 13. Mai 2008 19:15

I found this ant today in my garden all alone, it is the first time I have seen this species.
Lasius niger were attacking nearby colonies of a yellow Lasius sp.
So I think this worker was fleeing from its nest too, but I couldn't find the nest. :(
Maybe someone knows what species this is? Thanks!

Myrmica pherhaps, or Manica, not for sure tho, I dont know much about either of those, Manica are generally allot larger than Myrmica, which are about the same size as Lasius niger

Yes it was about the same size as Lasius niger.
The gaster is very dark and she moved rather slow don't know if that helps.

it is a lot of myrmica species ;) ,,, you can always tell it is Myrmica sp. because it is hard to write which one specie ... if you want especially , you need taxonomical tags. Myrmica also has a lot of color variations in nest ... (when is worker older , then is more dark)
