flavus queen dead!

Ohh well ive now lost another queen, just checkin my ants as im gonna be feedin them later n i noticed that my Lasius flavus queen is dead, im guessin she has been dead for a few days no reason why either.. no mould she has been fed well.. has workers.. :( ohh well least i still have my other queens. I was gonna ask what the chances are of my lasius niger takin the flavus brood?? think they would?

i im sorry for you queens.maybe they accept the brood, if no, they will just get some protein.

mine formica sangueina queens dont lay eggs for some reason.i have kept them in testubes,glass nests,soil,sand and loam and no one of queens like it.they all are queens and fertile.can somebody help me?

Steve I think lasius niger will accept the brood as my lasius flavus accepted some lasius niger brood ages ago ;)

Give them formica fusca cocoons, they will use them as slaves. Young F.Sanguinea queens normally kill the queens from a formica fusca nest and then the fusca will feed the queen.

So if you give the sanguineas some fusca cocoons (give atleast 10, preferably 30), they will start laying like crazy after they hatch.

@ Steve: sorry to hear that mate. You can try giving the brood to your Lasius niger there is a change they will take it.

@ Kiam: Lasius niger are much more aggressive than Lasius flavus so it could be they eat the brood.

@ mzfckr: Like Kale said, give the queens some slaves or cocoons from Formica fusca it will help allot. This species does not need slaves to survive but it much easier to start up with slaves.

One of my Lasuis Flavus queens died recently but she had no workers. I still have two other queens with workers, I can offer you some but the heat will kill them if I send them in the mail.
