but when they're in the tube and theire connected to the farm or in the basin should i feed them??

Your mother wouldnt starve you would she?

Yes your ants need Protein, not necessary the jelly but they need it to grow and stay alive. Basically your ants need insects and sweets. Maybe you should read a bit more here at the forum. Plenty of good information around here.
