Jimmy, sorry for posting in your topic but I didn't want to open a new one. Here is yesterday's photo of my C. vagus colony. Today there is 5 coocons already.

Some progress... today's photo. I'm still at 11 workers but the brood got bigger.

This week I'll probably get some macro ring for my camera so I'm looking forward to posting some better quality photos.

Looks like the cocoons are ready to hatch.

I expect them to hatch sometimes next week. A great new addition to the colony. Maybe I'm being too optimistic but I hope to come to 80+ workers by the end of the summer and to get some first soldiers next year.

Workers full of food , queen full of eggs ... what better can antkeeper wants ? I think , if you will feed queen with qualitty protein food (insects , or better damaged larvae of other species) I think your colony come to 60-100 workers this year. Keep 1/3 of nest wet and in 25°C all nest ... from today to september. Optimal colony of Camponotus vagus has 3 periods when queen is laying eggs ... when is colony smaller , is able to get more perdiods , for ex. 5-7 and then colony is growing very quickly. I will making experience this year with this specie , and try to get bigger colony from this year´s queen as yours colony from last year ... some competetion was estamblished

of course ... I hope campo vagus swarmings will be up to 2 weeks +/- 1 week (depends on weather) , so I believe I´ll found the most queens than I can
