Camponotus ligniperda

Help to the newbie

K the first pic is from my C.Ligniperda before they went to hibernation the other two show how i hibernate them, inside is during night (10pm -7am) and out side is during day (7pm-10pm):

*I took all these pictures with my phone and I personaly think the Shot of my ants is quite impressive considering I used a phone :D

Inside were it get a min temp of only 15C
Note the ventilation from outside on the right of the ant basin

Outside were temp ranges form 5C-12C at day at night is goes less than 5C

That looks really good ashhad.. im gonna be keeping my ligniperda in the same kind of setup.. they r currently in my shed hibernating :) Dont know if its possible.. but could you get a pic of the inside of ur tank :)

I would get a pic form the inside of the tank but im kinda constructing in there since the old soil and sand had a whole dramtic impact and killed some ants therefor im using garden which takes time to bake and such. So itl look really cr@p atm but il make sure il fix that really soon :D

@ashad1:liking the pics :grin: umm im also gonna keep my Camponotus lignirperda quite simerlar, in 2 connetcting basins but that wont be 4 some time yet so atm i'm just trying to get all my money together lol :P

Hey i was thinking about getting some Camponotus ligniperda to.They do look pretty cool but what do they make there nests in sand?Soil?Loam?

@ Antdude: Ya I need to save up my money too lol but lucky me my B day is on 17th feb and my parents owe me money :grin:

@Alexander:) :Definetly no bird sand and soil for plant cuttings... (my own experience) U can use compost peat and sand/Loam mixture which u can buy from Antstore, oh and humus is a nice add to the ground. U also might wanna add a pice of wood or so as they like to nest under such things.
Then there is another way which i took, Ytong. Ytong out of aereated cement or just out of cork your choice. But I really do think that you should have had some experience with ants first as these arent that easy but still, better alive then dead. hope that helps u :wink:

OK i just thought Id post some more pics of ym ants hibernating but I still havnt got the actual setup picsture yet. The first one is a pic of my ants huddeld togother at the roof in the room of the ytong, the second one is just a pic after i got them from outside(i noticed it was decreasing till 2C!)
