Hi Guys...
Just thought id share a few pics with ya...
My Temnothorax nylanderi colony are now moved into a new smaller basin and are in a nut shell, so im gonna give them a day or 2 to get used to there new home then im gonna drop the temp and hibernate them for a few months :D

You can see the nice nut they are in and by the side of that quater of a walnut so they feel a little more secure. Then there is a little tube with water.. a dish with some honey protein the cotton wool has water and honey. and there is also

yeh they are doin alright thanks antdude.. aint seen any come out of the shell since i moved them tho lol.. think they must have got a bit nervous....

steve mine were like this too(so dont worry :) ) i mean mine were not to fond of coming out of there home ether. but saying this mine was a smaller colony, so there needs are more with your ones as there bigger colony :grin:

Hey guys...
Ive just checked my Nylanderi today.. and they have sealed themselves inside the nut with the sand loam.. is this normal behaviour??

well they know what their doing, dont worry

probaly because they want to hibernate more ?

most animals close themselves off in winter.

In deed, most species close up there nest entrance if they hibernate.
