Small ant specie, from Camponotusinidae, very typical in my country, but hard to keep colony from queen.. I had tree queens and only one, it was also rare, than she had, but she layed eggs and keeped one worker! But after some time worker died and without him died queen :(
Queen- 8mm
Worker- 4-7mm
Major-6-8mm

No experience with that species, as for as i know they are central European ants, so keep them at the same temperature like other native ants.

I've not experience with that specie, but i know some info on Camponotus (Colobopsis) truncatus. She's more diffused in paleartic region: in central and South Europe, and Asia.

Colony nest in wood. The major workers cover the many entrance of the nest with their large clypeus.

Most Camp species live in wood when its available, hence the common name 'Carpenter Ant', some are more partial to it than others, but all are adaptable, you dont have to raise them in wood, a ytong will do just aswell, also most camp species will have only part of their nest in wood, the rest will be underground where avilable

Hi,

these ants aren´t agressive, only to strange colonys
of Camponotus truncatus. They only live in wood, in
hollow branches, high in the treetop. I don´t know the
situation in England, but in Germany they are very rare
and shouldn´t be keeped. Btw, it is very difficult to keep
them...

Sorry ant dude, but I think you should choose a other species!

Japp, the most, but not Camponotus truncatus. ;)
C. truncatus is generally a very particular species.
They are the only ants with a real soldiercaste here
in Germany and I think in England too. They go very
uncommonly out of their nest. Another reason why you
shouldn´t keep them ant dude. They aren´t juicy to keep...
