i know this has nothing to do with hibernation but my new lasius flavus colony has a really pale worker that i think is dead, it is the first worker for this colony and i am really worried its dead. how long does it take to wake up

If he is dead your ants will take it out and put it on the trash pile. (ore somewhere in the out world) How long do you have this colony, like you said its your first dead.
Did you removed the 'dead' worker and put it in a warmer place ?

Are you sure it's not just a pupae? In many species, when a new worker is born it takes a few days to get to normal color.

Yes, the young nymphs, who stir few, are paler than the adult workers.

er its my first worker at all so atm its just the queen taking care for the eggs and larve ect so they are still in test tube

If it's are your first workers, it's probably they are young nynphs

In deed, you need to give us all the information you have got. If it is your first worker it is probably normal. When did the worker hatch and is the queen/colony in hibernation now ?

Every new ants are pale, it takes sometimes several hours for an ant to wake after pulling from cocoon. Sometimes the first pupae don't make cocoons, or the queen for some reason eats fresh cocoon when it is made, so the pupa develops naked. My L. niger queen did so sometimes. So maybe your worker is still not developed and it will take several days for it to wake. But it's alive, otherwise it would be either eaten or taken out.

er it is not in hibernation and i am not sure when the worker hatched for sure, but around 3-5 days ago

its normal for a hatched worker to be very pale, for anything upto 2-3 weeks after hatching

They are not at hibernation wright now ?! They should be.

is it all curled up.... like a baby in the feetal* position, give it a few days, my lasius queens 1st worker did that for a day or two, dont worry the queen knows when to do when it needs to wake up
