Nice pics! How long live a snake like that? Do you give her dead rats or alive?

the can live upto 25 years in the right conditions, i only feed the python deads rats ,much kinder and less stressful for both the snake and the rat,a live rat often cause bad wounds to the snake whilst trying to defend itself

Oh okay....25 years. Not bad :)
Yeah thats right, the rat would do anything that she wont be eaten ^^
How do you kill the rats? I mean crickets or so for the ants its easy to kill. You need only hot water.
But with rats? How do you handle this?

well there are two ways, you can hit them on the head hard which i have never done or even tried to do,or you can buy dead rats from the reptile shop frozen (i always do this),then you defrost them in bucket of hot water, the snake seems fine with dead rats, sometimes you have to move the rat about a bit to make it look like its alive ,then the python will strike, but watch your hand cause they will try and bite you and pull you in,its happend to me and it hurts lol

 yeah, could imagine that a bite hurts much ^^
And crush a head of an rat....i could not do this, too. Its a little bit to brutal for me ;)
But the frozen way is a good and human way i believe.

Very nice pet you have got there ducatiman, nice ! (great pictures to)

But the frozen way is a good and human way i believe.

That is true, but still someone has to kill the rat before it gets frozen in. (not a job for me ;) )

Is this Python regius, right? I can´t remember the names, I know, than there is Boa python too, Boa constrictoris. Is this Boa or Python? We had this snake, Boa, when I was about 4, I can remember, like we get him, and I had put him on my neck, and he started screwing me   :D
After one minute my head was red like a potato and it started to spinning my head too :D:D But after he stopped that. In his 2 years he was about 270cm long and he had about 15kgs... It was really ,,fun" with him, when he was in ,,mating season", he had muffled around limb in his terarium and he strong stringged his body, and he tent his terrarium!

hi miszt, i have 2 cornsnakes aswell, keeping a python is not too hard, the only diffrence is the size and strengh ,pythons no matter how big or small need respect because they are very strong and even a small pythons bite really hurts (you will bleed)and you will need a injection for infections from the doctors,i find cornsnakes hard to handle because they are small and very fast,i will feed my snake later and try to get a picture of the teeth :evil05:
