liquid ant jelly

Beitragvon mzfckr » 29. Okt 2007 18:59

i read on a forum about liquid ant jelly.heres the post:

My Tapinoma also love liquid ant jelly (contridicting, I know).
I boil 1 cup of water, put in a dollop of honey, and syrup, with 2-3 drops
of multivitamin liquid, let it cool, then beat in a raw egg. I put this stuff
in a pice of 3/8 tubing plugged on each end with cotton. You can't even see the
cotton because the ants are drinking it non-stop. Great protein source for larvae, too.

someone has tryed this?its better than the jelly?

its exactly the same, but without a gelling agent to make it into jelly, most jelly will become a liquid after a short time warming up anyway

It is not necessary to make it into jelly.

I only used the Antstore protein jelly for my Polyrhachis dives. Never tried to make it on my own....
But my Polies loves that stuff. Think no ant would despise it ;)

;) you could try to make it yourself but we just think it is easier just to buy it. ;)
Buy a few of them and try it out, could be your ants don't like it at all but i doubt it.

shipping price is not such a bad problem, for me anyway as i do paper rounds, i get pocket money, x mas money(thats a real lot lol!) and also birthday money and that quite a fair bit aswell so......... :)

yeah ill try looking around soon i 1 or 2 reptile shops that are near where i live,as it might be very helpful to me and then i could more regaly shop there. but only if its any good there, but probaly should be as for a number of people it has proven a succes on this forum!!!

off-topic: do u know of anything i could try for my ants that reptile shops should sell?(that's any good) :-k

Reptile Protien jelly is available at most good pet shops, u can also get heaters, tanks, water heaters, lamps, circkets and other insects, loads of stuff :) keeping ants is very similar to keeping reptiles, they are just smaller, so need diffrent escape prevention
