@ guerreira: sorry i'm not sure which mold it is, but you can try to remove it fungicide ;)

@ Sith: if it are algae it is not bad for the ants, there are product you can put in the water that prevent algae to grow, like you do in fish tanks. (don't now the name but i think you know what i mean.)

sithmaster676 hat geschrieben:yeah because mold can be very deadly talking about mold i have a ytong block in a tray of water and mold seems to be growing on the outside of the ytong around the edges, is there some form of liquid that can kill this or prevent it from keep coming back because i clean as must as possible but it still comes back.

I have got white mold growing on the outside of my Y-Tong too. I'm not sure what it is/if it's dangerous/if there's a way to permanently remove it. I've rubbed it all off and tried scraping a little of the YTong away, but it grows back constantly. High-res picture attached (click for full size & zoom in). Identification/advice on danger/removal, and future prevention of growth on a YTong block welcome.

(I thought mold wasn't supposed to be able to grow on a YTong block?)

i have found out the the mold on my aerated concrete isn't mold it is the salt coming out of the block because it is in water.

@ azzer: that mold could become a problem to you because it may be deadly to your ants if your ants are not in your ytong block yet then u could try using some king of fungicide, if your ants are in the block then im afraid its not worth risking using fungicide so you may just have to keep scraping it off :(

@ azzer: Hmm maybe you try should some natural fungicide. As I'm sure this will be much kinder. It could be risky though. Good luck with what ever you decide to do :)

In deed, sometimes y-tong produce salt if it is a long time in water (not always) and as far as i know it is not bad for the ants.

I'm do not know much about mold Azzer, so i can not say if this is mold ore salt coming out of you farm. Maybe you can try some natural fungicide, like lowth01 said.

@ azzer: that is im afraid to say definitely not salt and it is mold which can be easily recognized by the growth, natural fungicide might be a good idea and if it does get into edible range of the colony then the water should dilute it enough to become harmless.

@jimmy: salt isn't bad for ants as long as the don't eat lots of it.
