MrILoveTheAnts,

Thanks for sharing that. Anyone else with a similar experience? I imagine individuals in Europe who order exotic ants also have packages that get x-rayed. Have any of you experienced queens who only produce males after they were shipped/air mailed to Europe/ Do share.

Yea, but Australia is very strict about their trade laws, very much like the USA, because they have allot of serious pest species. Cane Toads is one example. That was brought in by Man on purpose, but its the only species I can think of! lol.

I wouldn't be surprised if Argentina wouldn't care as much as the USA, or Australia do.

Hmmm I'm thinking these packages were exrayed ( I can't imagine they weren't). Perhaps certain species of ants are more suceptable to the effects of the exray than others.

could be. I'm not sure about that, i received one package a few months ago that wash opened by the customs authorities. There was only a sticker on it that said they opened it, the ants where still in it and everything was okay with them. But i must say the law in Belgium is not so strict about this i think. (and I'm glad for it. ;))

I think they would really get backed up if they xrayed everything.....though some in the US insist that they xray everything.

This is possible, and if they do not now what it is maybe they let it pass (that the way they do it over here ;)) but if they suspect it is dangerous they probably kill it.

Best thing to do if your an evil scientist is to genetically modify a colony wasps, so that they have a powerful disease like H.I.V being produced as there venom. Make them highly aggressive and unleash them using some sort of ray gun which produces them through rapid molecular structure building.

Thats a good tip to rule the world lol
