Here is a picture of a y-tong nest i have made. (back to basics, it is a farm like we made them the easiest way)
All together i have made this for about € 6 so do not say it is expensive like some do.

(in this one i keep my new colony of Formica rufibarbis)

Very nice ytong formicarium Jimmy ,it is look very professional ,it look good for ants. I never made formicariums like that ,because I have not time for this ,only for making simple nests

The time you need to complete one of is about 4-5 hours. (i guess, i wasn't looking at the time ) I also don't have much time so i only have one of these, i think i need to make about 15 more.

Home made nest are the best.

I'm not making nest for anyone else, i need to make enough for myself.

That is why i made it like this, easy to clean and a good look in the nest.

If you have so many species like i do (don't want to brag ) you need to.

Lasius niger, Lasius flavus, Formica fusca, Formica cunicularia, Formica rufibarbis, Myrmica rubra, Manica rubida, Messor barbarus, Pheidole pallidula, Plagiolepis pygmaea, Camponotus aethiops, Camponotus ligniperda, Camponotus vagus, Camponotus substitutus, Camponotus blandus sp., Camponotus sp., Pheidologeton diversus


Acromyrmex queen with only 4 workers.
Ectatomma ruidum only queen
Lasius fuliginosus in tube.

I have also so many ants in home (today no more ,but sometimes when is swarm time of some species near my home I have )

Messor barbarus , Messor muticus ,Manica rubida ,Camponotus vagus , Camponotus blandus , Camponotus substitutus , Camponotus fallax ,Camponotus sp. (thailand) ,Camponotus nicobarensis (next week) ,Camponotus barbaricus ,Tetramorium sp. , and maybe I will have Formica polyctena young colony + Lasius umbratus

+ ants what I have only last week: Lasius niger ,Strongilognathus sp. Camponotus aethiops , Tetramorium sp. 2x ,cvagus 2x , messor barbarus
