Hi im thinking about buying a antworld. But im wandering what you would recomend buying to put in it and whether i should get a queen. Another thing is whether i should get any other equipment.

Hi Ben and welcome to the forum.
I'm sorry but i'm still not sure what an antworld is ?
If you like to keep ants, study them a bit (here at the site) and how to keep them. If you like a colony you need a queen.
The farm you need depends a bit on the species you would like to keep.

I think it is not good for ants ,It is only to view like ants making nest ,no to have a colony for a few years. It is better to look on forum ,like some anters have formicariums for Lasius niger ,the better is ytong or for small colony like in Antstore ,in test tube. You can take small aquarium (without water ) and get it into like on some pictures in galery. But I think ,ytong nest is better.

I use antworld and they will nest in there

They NOT suitable for long time to the attitude. ONLY for a short time, e.g., for a project etc.

Thanks everyone for your help. Uta i dont know if you are but i think you are getting a antworld mixed up with a gel habitat.

I'm sure she is not mixing it up Ben07 She is wright (like most people here) They are not made to keep a colony in. Maybe at first if there are like 10 workers and 1 queen, but if the colony grows the antworld would be to small.

Thanks everyone for your help. I am thinking about only getting a queen and a couple of workers to start off with But if the antworld gets to big would it be alright adding it to another antworld or another housing.

I think you better consider giving them a good home. Not an antworld. Give them a proper sand/loam nest are a Y-tong nest. The colony can grow in it and it is better for them.

ben07, i have an ant world, but i only have workers in it NOT a queen. Antworld is mainly about seeing the tunels and so it gives you an insite into the world of ants. It is good for worker ants so that you can learn how to take good care of them.
