I just found a Lasius niger queen under a rock and I immeditately put it in my antworld will it be ok there? And I put a worker in there which I think from same colony since I found from same place and I have made it some holes to dig in there will it adjust to there or just die ? and should I feed it or wait till some children come from the queen? And I just put it in my bedroom wardrobe :) So I hope its dark enough and good enough temperature And the queen must be quite old because I saw alot of its workers well I think they were hers lol so thats why I want to know if I should feed

Do you took the hole colony? If not, the rest of it will die, because they havent got anymore a queen, because lasius niger arent pologyn (mostly).

If its just a young quenn, you dont have to feed until the first workers are born. Then you should feed sugar or honey. Later on catch some insects outside and feed it.

Wrong. Always feed when possible. First workers will be bigger and stronger that way.

Put her to a test tube, but be carefull with! You need to make the test tube get- ready for queen, or small colony. It´s ready, when is there a dapm bunch of cotton wool at the back of tube...like you see on the pictures. When you leave the queen in her hole in Ant world, after some tiem she can die from big starving. When you put her to the tube, you can feed her easy. Feed her with honey water.

If its really a Lasius niger, then the queen founds a new colony "caustral" (dont konw how its called in English). This means that the queen doesnt leave her chamber after having a few eggs; for getting food or water etc...

Pieces of sugar should be enough, it is hard to get them eating insects.

A-ha, how hard it is to use some stick to add some goods near the queen? She will find it if you put sugar or something next to her.

@Kiam: Maybe you need to read a bit more at the forum, so you have an idea what to do. If you find a 'young' queen you need to put here in a tube (that is the best way) don't put a worker with here unless you are sure the are from the same colony.
It is not good to take queens from a older colony, the other ants will just die a unless dead. That is not what ant keeping is about.

@ Kale^^ and Dark_Nemesis: I think you are starting a endless discussion. ;) I like to say this about it. In nature the queen in deed does not get out to feed (young queen after mating time) she wait on the first workers to feed here. In captivities (like we keep them ;) ) you don't "need" to feed here, but i also give here a bit of sugar/water or honey. (in here tube) This way you give here a bigger chance to start a healthy colony.

Okay that is going good so for. now keep here in the tube until first workers come. I'm guessing she is a young queen if you are sure she was alone she probably is. If everything is wright she will be laying eggs soon.
