In this morning's news :)

The queen hasn't moved from her place. In fact she has lad 2 extra eggs.
The only worker she had is dead :( no idea why. It did come back to the test tube before i went to bed and wasn't moving at all. This morning its not in the test tube so i assume either eaten by mommy or thrown out. Given how small the worker was and how it blended with the top layer of soil it will be hard to find the body.

Let's hope the 2 other workers hatch soon and then it will be months before more come.

dont give up varban, or loose hope. keeping ants is a trial and error path.

She still hasnt moved out. Think she laid another egg.

The thing is she is not very lively today. That normal?

Edit: Well actually she is just not moving much. She is taking care of the eggs and the cocoon so i think she is ok.

Well the 2nd worker hatched! So i have a worker again :) waiting on a 3rd one now. She spend the last few days in the uncovered test tube. Contrary to popular beliefs she seemed quite happy as she laid a nice clump of eggs.

This morning she moved in the new testube so i can't keep an eye anymore. Oh well :)

Btw for water do they get the water from the moisture of the soil or from a water fountain? I have a cup filled with water as i ran of gelwater, but the test tube is well supplied for now.

The water is the test tube is more to keep the tube moist, i always keep a little place for them to drink in the out world.

That happened a few times. ;) in the beginning now i place a piece of wood in it so they can hold on to it if they fall in, and than escape. ;)

Haha thats actually what i did too :P there is a piece of wood in my little pond from both extremities. I was thinking they could walk on it and drink that way rather than a safet log :)
