Arena Lid Isn't Ant Proof!

Help to the newbie

Beitragvon deadmeat30 » 10. Mai 2007 13:58

hey all, i have got a glass arena with lid, and i used the self adhesive strips, and its worked fine! but i think ant store should supply the lids with the strips already attached!

thats my 2 cents added.

all the best, Alan

That is the best way to do it, in deed maybe they need to give them with the starters pack.
I also use them, ;)

Where is the best place to buy the self adhesive stips Alan? I had a look on ebay but all there are is Velcro strips! Unless you mean velcro ones?

Cheers, Sam.

Do you have by any chance some fotos of your arena lid with the strips? I Want to see how you did it, cuase in the last days ive watched at least two Lasius Niger out one on the top of the lid and the other on the balcony, and i've putted some strips on the top of the lid but i dont quit know from were are they escaping, is it from the sides of the lid and glass of the arena, or from the conection of the tube to the farm, this is quit a problem lol. I want to control it know when they are few, the problem with this species is the very small size. And tell where do you put the PTFE in the lid or in the glass?

This seems like a stupid question but the PTFE is inside the area right? And does the product kills them?

Yes, PTFE is inside the arena. It is glide material, meaning that ants can not go over it. They fall back down so they do not escape.

This material is not poisonus so it does not kill ants. Oh, and falling back to arena also does not kill ants.

Glad I could help.

Like Mpir sad, no it is not. it is used so they ants can not escape if you feed them. Like the setup from deadmeat, it is always better to use a lid to. ;) (just to be sure)
