hypervelocity hat geschrieben:1) when is the time of year they come out of the nest in the uk?

It depends from what species you preferring to, Lasius niger from June till September.

hypervelocity hat geschrieben:2) is it possible for a colony in captivity to have winged ants?

Yes it is. After the colony is on full strength they can pre duce queens or males.

hypervelocity hat geschrieben:3) how do colony produce winged ants?

Depend on the food the larva gets from the workers.

hypervelocity hat geschrieben:4) if i have a species of ant that not from the UK and they a winged ants, do i relice them into the wild?

Never relive ants in to the wild ! they can destroy the ecosystem from your area. Just let them in the nest, they will probably help the workers or die and be brought outside the nest. Then remove them.
If your would like to give up a colony - give it away or destroy it but don't relive it in the wild.

hypervelocity hat geschrieben:5) if i do relice them into the wild is it possible they may successfully mate and start a new colony it the wild?

Depend of the species, but don't do it. ;)
btw: it is illegal to, to do it.

You have to know one thing. All "winged ants" are either male or female. There are no winged workers. Only males and females fly away where they mate. Males die in a few days, queens start a new colony after sucessful nuptial flight. If there is only one colony it is very unlikely that the queens will find apropriate mate. However it is possible that they interbreed with local speies or in some cases incest (pharroh ant). So you shouldn't consider letting go an exotic species into foregin environment.
