Well its been another day and was going to remove that cricket that i had placed in the tube, when i did not see it so i looked up near the cotton wool with water and see guts all over the wool, looks like she mauled it! so i have no idea how to remove guts of a cricket from the wet wool on the other end without hurting or disturbing her and the Larvae.

Any ideas? :?

Try moving her into another tube. It's risky but leaving her there is risky too. Or maybe just put another tube next to this one and they might move by themselves.

That indeed is difficult. ;)

If it is possible you better take it out (with a tweezer or something) but if it is not maybe you better leave it there, if you place the tube in the out world place another tube close to this one, so if they like they can move, if the cotton is starting to mould.

hi
i have found that certain types of species will gladly move tubes IF it is bigger than the original tube as they like space to expand the colony :)

Be careful not to get the queen or larvae, maybe you could put the queen to sleep [ Tube in the refigerator for 10 mins] becasuse she may get in the way or even attack the tweeezers defending her nest and brood.

yes i was worried about that aswell and was thinking about putting her to sleep but it freaks me out ya know, i put crickets in for about 5 mins they looked dead but they came alive, this is my first queen that has gotten this far and i dont want to hurt her but i think it is the best option.

any steps ya recommend

? The pages doesn't matter. A forum is meant to help each other.
I wash already telling you to move this to the 'Experience with European ants' part of the forum, it more at its place there. Now if someone els has this problem they are not going to look here, they only look here to identify there species. If you now what i mean.

never less, Did you find any tube at the drugstore ? You can put here to sleep but I'm not so found of doing that. It is true, she probably will attack the tweezer to protect here eggs.

It is not that bad ;) i mean it in a good way, like i sad, if anyone has the same problem they will never find it here. (Just open a new subject for it)

That is wired, here they have them at every drugstore, but i live in Belgium so maybe they need it more here ;). You can also order them from antstore but it is going to teak a while before they arrive.

Maybe that is the only way, with the tweezer i mean.
