when is it best to order a colony of lasius nigers as i wish to get some.

I guess the best would probably be if you order the ants after their hibernation.
That would be in the month april. I usually take my Lasius niger colonies out of the hibernation at the end of april but you can order them a bit earlier.

First difine what does it mean "best" for you? You can buy the colony any time you want. But as far as ant activity goes, buy it in late spring. In winter time ants hibernate (at least they should be) so they are pretty much passive all the time. They only come "alive" in late spring. Maybe this is the best time to buy them.

thanks for the quick replies i am goin to order my colony soon and hibernate them later than usual just to make sure that they survive the winter.

my colony is in hibernation now when is it best to take them out?:)
and i am ordering a new colony in april.

That is the best way to do it. Wright all imported things down so you don't forget them and ask them again.

yeah i have saved it all on my computer in its own folder so i shouldnt lose it or get rid of it.
