ANTSTORE World of Ants

I have a small and hibernating L.Niger colony living in a mix of sand and soil. Its a small Basin (the one provided in the antstore starter kit.) but I was considering planting either some "cat grass" or some cress on the more soily parts.

What kind of plants and cacti have you found usefull?

Any plants that ants REALY dont like?


P.S im new to the forum but have been reading many of the posts and they are very usefull.

I do not know as it is the climate from you, anyway, I think that it could be interesting to introduce plants that carry aphids, as some dwaries roses, or some" I do not know which it is the term corrected in English " - fat plants -
for uderbrush "cat grass" probably is too tall.... try some short grass like shamrock

I don't think there are plants that Lasius niger don't like, if you use plants from there natural habit. Plants that carry aphids are good. but be carful with putting plants in the ant farm, make sure they don't carry parasites are bacteria.

Its kind of early for them to be hibernating

I know its a bit strange. Iv seen a worker today but for almost a month there was no sign of them. Think its just because its pretty cold where I am. Dont have the heating on either.
