ok i recently bought a ytong block and hollowed out bits of it for my red ants using a mini drill like a dremal. now once i put the anys into the formicarium with the ytong buried in the sand/loam. however the ants dont seem to want to go into it and if they do they seem to get covered in the white dust from the block and start either dying or acting wierdly

anyone got any ideas if the ytong can be toxic or anything?

probably not. you have to wash the block off so the dust is out it. and keep them a little bit wet.

put the stone under the shower and clean it.

but you better dont bury the stone in the sand, if you moisten the stone the sand get wet too and the ants are able to build their nest in the sand. (they will prefer the sand and dont settle in your ytong)
