i so far have had termites for a month now no queen or king but wating for the workers to be nymphs the hardest thing as compared to ants is that you need to keep the soil completly damp just enough for the wood destroying mold they love to from but not so much they drown very tough mix still am trying to prefect it and as to the size of encloser you need in can be anything i have read that subterranean termites dont always nest in the soil they have found them on the roughs of buildings were there is tons of standing water but once the water up there got to a certen point they beelined to the dirt at the base of the building i have also heard that an entire colony my be right on the floor of a basement under neeth something that is relly wet or if the basement has water problums they may even be in plane sight queen and all nothing on top it all has to do with the water avaible in there imedit area so you dont need a massive encloser to house them even if they like to dig cuz they would only dig to get to the water table in the groung and if you provid the water at the top and keep the population down you can keep them reltively easy but the queens can lay up to 86,000 and yes i mean 86,000 eggs a day and there may be more than one queen
