. The colony has settled in well to my plaster nest chamber. When transporting them over I scattered a little of the soil from there chamber into the bottom of the plaster nest.
Transferring them was relatively easy. They arrived in a small pot of soil. In here they had dug there starter chamber and sealed themselves in. The supplier had kindly marked out on the side of the pot where the chamber was and i could see faint movment through the plastic. I slowly scooped pot soil from the farthest point to the chamber and then with a small paint brush scraped away at the soil untill i reached the walls of the chamber. The termite king and queen had started tapping againts the side of the chamber and making a clicking sound at this point .
I slowly broke into the chamber to find a rather nice size queen and king, about 14 mm in size
I was very impressed and full of joy, I have wanted termites since my childhood and as soon as i could understand the world of social insects. I slowly brushed the king and queen onto a small plastic teaspoon and then brushed them off into there plaster chamber. The small starter workers and soldiers are half the size and very much like nantics in a ant colony. They were picked up gently by dipping the tiny piant brush in water and brushing it against kitchen towel so it was just damp. Then the workers ,nymphs and eggs were gently picked up one by one and gently tapped into the new nest. The termites have settled down well and i have had them about four days. It amazes me how interesting they are, The king and Queen spend alot of time grooming feeding each other, they groom the nymphs and workers who then gromm the Queen and King in return. The eggs are groomed alot also, they are picked up individually and cleaned with great care. It is a great sight to see mobile youngsters, the nymphs are the young stage like the larva stage of ants but in termites the nymphs are minature workers in look and as they grow they take on more the look of what caste they will be. It amuzes me as the nymphs are very adventurous and many times workers and the King and Queen have fecthed nymphs back from wondering off. Well guys there concludes my diary for now, Hope you like the pics below.

lol , if anyone on here can offer any advice on what species they deffiantly are then i would be greatfull. I know there a fungus growing species for sure so am thinking they are alot more likely to be in the Macrotermes family. Also the soldiers and workers are not like coptoterms. Coptoterms workers are all white from what i have researched and one size. The workers in my colony have dark brownish coloured heads and there is a distict various size in workers.
, I would rather move them now then risk damaging her when she swells up, also it alot easier now while the colony is small and i dont have 100s of workers or biting soldiers to deal with lol.
