I caught an ant....
Is it an queen?
I have put it in a test tube with water, how should i feed the ant??
Which species??

Looks like a Formica species to me. And it defenetly looks like a queen.

I am not quite sure but as far as i know most Formica species found their colony claustral. So they dont need
to be fed. But its quite a late time of the year for a nuptical flight. If you are unlucky , this queen might be sick.
I've found a lasius niger queen once at the end of the year. She was pushed away from the colony because she
was infested with mites.

But i wish you good look. It might take some time until she lays her first eggs.

the test tube with a water tank is the best place for her now. You should put something around the tube do make it dark
inside.

About the feeding , if she really needs to eat you can only give her sugarwater or honeywater. I dont think that she needs
any protein for the colony founding

There are many parasitic species of Formica. They cant found colonys by themself.

Where did you find her? As Creature said, it's a Formica queen, a Serviformica (non-parasitic, colony-founding claustral).

I live high in the mountains of Norway, about 800meters, we have the highest soccer field of europe , its here that i found here.

Does this mean she wont lay eggs?

December ist not the season for founding a colony. Its time for hibernation.

No I dont expect her to found a colony.

Catch some queens in the summer they will lay eggs.

caught her in the fall, but dident find this forum before now .......... its like 20- outside....

She will lay eggs by her own, and you don´t have to feed her until the first workers will be born.
Now you should hibernate her.
