Lasius niger mating flights took place on 7/8/10 north west scotland i managed to catch 10 queens

Lasius niger also flew today in the south east Caught 4 queens

Here in Holland, on the 7th of August.

I caught "just" two, and put them both in the Aquarium I prepared. This is all ver new to me, I caught one with and one who already dropped her wings.

One started to bury in right at the front of the aquarium against the glass, the other under a rock.

Can I keep these both in a 40cm cubic aquarium 1/2 filled with sand? I was not sure if both would be fertile, so I put them both in.

Please let me know what you think, otherwise I would have to take one out!

Lasius species flew today in the south east. Was the biggest flight this year around here.

yesterday there was a flight here in London but this time more Lasius flavus than niger and in a natural park there was some Myrmica rubra too.
