Yep, they're out this evening in Oxford too.

I'm after Myrmica Rubra, but I think I've only found Lasius
niger so far.

Better than nothing though.
There are several Myrmica
rubra nests on the road near my flat, but I couldn't find any queens near them. Is it likely that there'd be some near the nests, or would they try to fly far away? If there's a good chance of me catching one near the nests, I'll have another go, but if not, I'll leave it and stick with the L Niger queens I caught - it's a busy road and people keep calling me a freak because (from their point of view) I'm wandering around picking up invisible things from the floor and putting them into tupperware containers. :S
