Most people like to put carpenter ants into a plaster nest. But then you couldn't look at how they would dig in the wild. So I thought you could put a sheet of cork in between two pieces of glass, then put glass around the edges. do you think this is a good idea?

The only problem i see with those cork nests are that they are hard to keep moist. But you can use it, don't forget, these are rather big ants so don't use a small nest area.

i have put mine in a bit of rotten wool with a small hole dug out of it to nest in the queen has taken to it well. i've also put the hole against the glass and will be puting some red film on the glass so the queen doesnt get botherd by the light.

I think u can keep the cork moist easally, because wood already make from the nature to transport water in the trees of the "kapillar Wirkung". And another aspect pro is that those ants live in wood that will keep them as natural as it could.
